If you try to observe your thought most likely you will observe that you are thinking about what is not yet happened or about what has already happened in your life.
You tend to focus more on what will not happen in your life rather than focusing or hoping what will work for you. that is on to positive thinking.
How to stop thinking or overthinking negative thoughts?
Understand, Mind work is to think. So its always going to think. Our
responsibility is not to stop thinking but to project our mind to think positive
even in worst situation. Mind is a part of body if used properly can do wonders and if not used properly can give you worst things.
Mind is going to think about future what will happen in my future? Will I have satisfying Job , Will I have good Partner?, Will I have more money? OR about the past, this had happened to me, That might again happen to me. When that thing had happened, I would have reacted in this manner and so on. Just remember, In future we don’t know what will happen and Past is just gone, thinking about past will not change your past. Accept past, learn from it and move on.
Our Job is not to think about this but be in Present Moment or in
Present. If you are thinking negative that means you are not giving any work to
your mind. Mind is idle and thinking about past/future. You are eating but you
are mentally somewhere else, you are driving but your mind is somewhere else.
- What should I be doing? Suppose you are having food, see to that you are 100% present have a taste and chew your food properly.
- Take interest in everything you do. Even if they are your everyday activities. Ask yourself Why am I doing this? Incase of eating, your answer will be I want to be healthy I need vitamins, proteins for my body to work.
- Habit of being in present moment doesn't come easily. You have to practice it. Add it to your "To-do-list".
- Whenever you go in Past / Future moments. Ask yourself "Is being in past/future is helping me?
- Do everything you do with immense joy, instead of trying to do it all in misery.
- Think of five things you enjoy doing
- Listen to four sounds you hear right now.
- Smell three things in a moment
- See two things which you love in a moment
- Taste one thing.
